The U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) has awarded $35.18 million to small shipyards across the United States, supporting modernization, productivity improvements and maritime workforce development

The U.S. Maritime Administration awarded $35.18 million to 45 shipyards in 24 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands for 2026.

Grants fund equipment like cranes, welding machines, drydocks and CNC cutters to modernise yards and boost productivity.

Awards range from roughly $4,185 for training up to $1.53 million for major equipment purchases at individual shipyards.
