- Air Marshal Tim Jones told the Defence Committee the MoD does not want to extend the Type 45s, which start leaving service from 2035, preferring to spend on a hybrid Navy replacement.
- He said £1.5 billion is set aside this Parliament to start hybrid Navy projects, and an uncrewed surface vessel contract is due soon.
- The UK Defence Journal notes a July answer said no final extension decision is expected until 2027-28; Jones called an extension “an option” but “not part of our plan”.
